Turk hosted the show with Ricardo Cabrera who is a managing partner and marketing guro for the local World of Beer locations in Colorado. They currently have three stores in Cherry Creek, Belmar and Lodo. They are also gearing up to open one in Boulder on the Pearl Street Mall. We talked about their really phenomenal beer program that is truly unique at each location. We think these guys get an unfair shake being called too “chainy” when they are helping support many local breweries and involved heavily in the community. In hour one we also talked to Breckenridge Brewery‘s Todd Thibault about their brand new IPA called Breck IPA. In hour two we jumped in with Mike Bladford and Dr. Greg Schlichting from Declaration Brewing who opened in February at 2030 S. Cherokee St. in Denver. They are already rocking 16 beers on tap. They brought in several of these and are knocking it out of the park already. They have a pretty sweet lab set up too that they not only use for themselves, but also allow other breweries to use for qualitative analysis. These are good folks who have a stunning tap room and a lot of room to grow and distribute. We also did some Brew News You Can Use.
In Hour One: We opened with Mobile Canning‘s Brew News You Can Use and then talked to Brandon Proff, Bryan Leavelle and Andrew Strasberg from Our Mutual Friend Malt & Brew at 2810 Larimer St. in Denver. These guys are making some amazing brews in the RiNo neighborhood. We sampled a couple of their beers, talked about their story, hit on Colorado Craft Beer Week events and much more. We also rapped with Todd Thibault from Breckenridge Brewery about the Stranahan Barrel Aged Pandora’s Bock and Colorado Craft Beer Week events they are involved in, which is many! Check www.breckbrewcom for the full list or visit the Colorado Craft Beer Week website!
In Hour Two: The Gubna jumped on from Detroit as Oskar Blues is launching Michigan this week. Also joining us was Ricardo Cabrera from World of Beer Cherry Creek. They have a soft opening this Wednesday March 13th! They are located at 660 S. Colorado Blvd and will have 50 taps and 543 other beers in bottles and cans! Launched 6 years ago, World of Beer already has 38 locations in 13 states. Ricardo gave us their concept, talked about weekly events they hold and much more. Get onto FB and like their page and join us Wednesday for their soft opening! We closed out the show talking to Warren Monteiro who was named Wynkoop Brewing’s Beer Drinker of the Year just a couple weeks ago. We talked about his resume, the judging and about his fables career in beer.
Thanks to the OMFMB guys, Ricardo from World of Beer, his cousin Jose and Warren for making this show a great one!
