Adam Dunbar who is the Mountain West District Manager for Green Flash Brewing sat in and co hosted with Turk this week. We talked new Green Flash releases including a single hop series and about their brand new barrel aging and funktifying facility. In hour one we had on Matthew Fuerst who owns and operated Grandma’s House. This is a collective brewery where he brews his own and allows other brewery-in-planning folks to use his system and tap for the public. Of course he has Bingo nights, rocking chairs and cross stitched logos. He is doing a really cool thing there at Mexico and Broadway in Denver. In hour two we finally had Alan Simons who is the head brewer at Backcountry Brewery in Frisco. They recently had a rebranding effort. He makes a killer double IPA you need to try and they are tinkering with sour beers too. Make this a stop for you next time you are in or near Summit County. Turk and Daniel Ekker from Argonaut Wine & Liquor hosted in studio today! Big news this week was the Budweiser Superbowl ad. We got guest reax! In hour one we had back in John Fiorilli who is head of brewing operations for the Mountain Sun‘s string of breweries and pubs. February is Stout Month and Mountain Sun has been doing this for 22 years. John has prepared over 600 kegs of stout deliciousness to tap. Check the list of events HERE! We also hit on all things Mountain Sun. In hour two Scott Witsoe and Pat McNerney jumped in from Wit’s End Brewing. Scott announced that Pat is the new head brewer which will free Scott up for more outside account sales and execution of their 600 percent expansion going from a 1 barrel brewery to a 7 barrel one. We sampled several of their beers and talked about what’s next for this hot brewery. They of course won medals last year at GABF and World Beer Cup for the Jean-Claude Van Blonde. Great things coming for this brewery! Tebo jumped in to talk about his craft beer bar of the week and to hit us up on happenings at Breckenridge Brewery. Nicol Winkler (AKA the Thirsty German) and Turk hosted in studio this week. News of the week was AB/Inbev buying Elysian Brewing. We got reaction from our guests. In hour one we talked to Aubrey Hall of Hall Brewing Company. He has a killer brewery he handbuilt in Parker. They also have a taproom on Main St. in Parker as well. We talked about his brews, a possible rebranding and much more. In hour two the twins Daniel and Dennis Richards from Echo Brewing Company in Frederick and Erie jumped in. These guys have turned in a lot of medals in just a couple years of professional brewing. You really should check out their brewpub in downtown Erie! They are now canning and bottling some bombers too. We also did our weekly with Breck Brew’s Todd Thibault and rolled out Mobile Canning’s Brew News You Can Use.
Strange Brewing Company invited us out for their 2nd Anniversary Bash! Special guest host this week was Todd Thibault from Breckenridge Brewery. The Gubna was in Alabama for Hangout Fest but joined us by phone briefly. Strange’s Tim Myers sat in all hour talking about their 2 years of brewing in Denver. We also chatted with The Examiner’s Zack Christofferson and Wit’s End’s Scott Witsoe. Always a ton of brew news and much more.
