Nicol Winkler (AKA The Thirsty German) and Daniel Ekker from Argonaut Wine & Liquor filled in while Turk was pouring beers in Asheville NC. In Hour one they talked to special guests from Joyride Brewing Company: owner Dave Bergen and brewer Nathan Lincoln. They are rocking out amazing beers with a real cool taproom at 25th and Sheridan in Edgewater. Great to finally get these guys in. We also chatted with Todd Tebo from Breckenridge Brewery. In hour two owner David Lin and head brewer Marks Lanham from Comrade Brewing Company joined the fray. They have been turning heads with their Superpower IPA. Marks is former head brewer at Grand Teton, Boneyard and Barley Browns and really knows how to work with hops. David comes from Dry Dock Brewing Company. We also had on the line Terry Martin who is a local homebrewer who is helping a local non-profit organize a home brew tasting event in Denver on April 24. Salus World helps with mental health issues in war torn regions, like Malaysia. She’s looking for local homebrewers to donate 2.5 gallons (or so) of up to 2 styles of their beer. Basically, they’ll be pouring their beer for a good cause, helping to raise awareness of the non-profit. The event is in RiNo, at the Posner Center, on April 24. Contact her at this email: firstname.lastname@example.org. Two winners will be selected, a judges choice and a people’s choice. Winners will have the opportunity to win a gift certificate to a local homebrew shop. We also gave you a healthy dose of Brew News You Can Use.

In hour one Strange Craft Beer Co’s Tim Myers jumped on to talk about a new Ruby Street homebrewing set up for folks in wheelchairs. We were then joined by Ryan Scott of Odd 13 Brewing in Lafayette. He and his crew have been rocking out some phenomenal sour beers lately and we were able to give Blucifer a try. They will be releasing these in cans as seasonals. We also sampled some Eric the Red, Doctor Wildcat, Papa Selenus and Spruce Campbell. Really been impressed with what Odd 13 is cranking out these days! This week it was The Canteen Tap House & Tavern in Breckenridge.

He opened up in November and has some real fun and great beers to offer. We sampled his Imperial Red and Stout. We also caught up with Catherine Peters from the Bark Bar in Denver who had to recently shut down due to zoning issues. After a handful of neighbors complained of noise, parking and drunken behavior, the city determined Denver zoning code doesn’t allow restaurants or bars to have off leash dog yards. Saturday November 22nd 2014 with the Blue Spruce Brewing and Brewery Rickoli Gangs
Turk hosted alone in studio today as he has been quite forgetful lately and went to work without securing a co host. But no worries as we had some great guests come in to hang out. In Hour One we had in Rick and Tim Kane from Blue Spruce Brewing Company in Centennial at Colorado Blvd and County Line Rd. Rick and Tim are a father son team who along with mom Theresa run a very cool brewery and Mazatlan Style kitchen to boot. Had a really great time in studio with these guys and gal so very thankful they came in. Support your local Centennial and Wheatridge brewery folks!
Saturday November 29th 2014 Chain Reaction Brewing for the Despondents vs Stacy Turk Beer
Yep, it finally came down to this one! Stacy and John Turk have been homebrewing for a handful of years so when Zack Christofferson from Chain Reaction Brewing approached them both to do separate beers professionally at Chain Reaction, we had to make a big deal out of it. So we though it might be cool to have Stacy take on the Beer Despondents Todd Thibault, Mike Nelson and Turk. Stacy and the Chain Reax crew made a Caramel Apple Brown while the Despondents went with a Chocolate Cream Porter. We had a contest to see what beer was better as we tapped it today. The winner was decided by a judging panel made up of Brewtally Insane‘s Mark Robinson, The Thirsty German Nicol Winkler, author and beer journalist Emily Hutto and Nate Fleming from High Plains Tap House. One dollar for each sale went to their respective charities. Stacy went with The Gathering Place and the Despondents went with Life Is Better Rescue. The losing beer makers have to match the totals for sale of that beer. So it came down to it with Nate and Nicol voting for the Stacy and Mark and Emily voting for the Despondents. The folks on hand had to split the votes and did so favoring Stacy’s Caramel Apple Brown. During the show we had on Tim Myers from Strange Craft Beer Company, Thibault, Nelson, Stacy, Zack and Chad Christofferson, Klaus Schiefelbbin and the entire judging panel. What a very fun event and we WILL do this again. BIG up thanks to the Christofferson family and the Chain Reax crew for hosting us. This was a very good time.

We also heard form Tim’s wife Marni who is also very instrumental in the daily going ons at Strange. Danny Wang of CAUTION Brewing Company also jumped on as they were celebrating their 2nd anniversary! There was a big ‘ol Brew News You Can Use segment as well! Big thanks to the Strange crew and to Taste of the Phillipines for the grub!
