Nicol Winkler (AKA The Thirsty German) and Daniel Ekker from Argonaut Wine & Liquor filled in while Turk was pouring beers in Asheville NC. In Hour one they talked to special guests from Joyride Brewing Company: owner Dave Bergen and brewer Nathan Lincoln. They are rocking out amazing beers with a real cool taproom at 25th and Sheridan in Edgewater. Great to finally get these guys in. We also chatted with Todd Tebo from Breckenridge Brewery. In hour two owner David Lin and head brewer Marks Lanham from Comrade Brewing Company joined the fray. They have been turning heads with their Superpower IPA. Marks is former head brewer at Grand Teton, Boneyard and Barley Browns and really knows how to work with hops. David comes from Dry Dock Brewing Company. We also had on the line Terry Martin who is a local homebrewer who is helping a local non-profit organize a home brew tasting event in Denver on April 24. Salus World helps with mental health issues in war torn regions, like Malaysia. She’s looking for local homebrewers to donate 2.5 gallons (or so) of up to 2 styles of their beer. Basically, they’ll be pouring their beer for a good cause, helping to raise awareness of the non-profit. The event is in RiNo, at the Posner Center, on April 24. Saturday December 20th Beer in Review 2014
Nicol Winler AKA The Thirsty German and Steve Kurowski of the Colorado Brewers Guild sat in the whole show as we went through the year in beer in Colorado. We talked best beers of the beer, best new breweries, trends, what to look for in 2015 and we also sampled some very fine Holiday brews. We also had a chat with Shay Wasson and Savannah Wilt form Via Baci Modern Italian Bistro in for their votes. Of course Breckenridge Brewery‘s Todd Thibault weighed in as well.
Saturday December 13th Epic Brewing Company
We were stoked to be invited out to Epic Brewing Company for their holiday party with Saint Nick and a cookie and beer pairing. Firestone Walker‘s Elizabeth Isenbart co hosted with us. We were joined by Epic Tap Room Manager Jennie Richau, Beer Ambassador Eric Matelski, and owner and founder Dave Cole. Todd Thibault jumped in to talk about Bourbon barrel Aged Imperial 72 and Christmas Ale from Breckeridge Brewery. Other guests included Santa Claus and the cookie makers Kristi Peltz, Zeni Whitall, Bonnie Skells and Chelsea Magin. Kristi Pelts won with her Utah Sage Saison Lemon Bars. Get tickets for their Annual Holiday Brunch with Big Kiwi’s Gourmet Eats. Justin Hugill of Big Kiwi also jumped on to give us details. All cookies were tremendous and we can’t thank the Epic gang enough for having us come in for their Christmas party!
Saturday December 6th at Lone Tree Brewing’s 3rd Anniversary Party
Lone Tree Brewing Company was so kind to invite us out for their 3rd Anniversary Party as they released some very big news. Stacy Turk sat in for co hosting duties today! John Winter and Jason Wiedmaier joined us to talk about some really massive growth plans. We are very excited to see them gain an additional 3,600 square feet, a fully automatic Cask canning line, a new 20 barrel brewhouse and a fourth can which will be Hoptree Double IPA. The canning line is in, the brewhouse is on the way, and the Hoptree cans should be ready to roll by summer. All this allowing Lone Tree to triple their production. This is really great news. They also say they are toying with some sour beers that can be kept away from their brew system in their new space behind the taproom. Cheers for a big 2015 coming up for Lone Tree Brewing Company! Guests included owners John and Jason Winter, brewers Josh West and Jerry Siote. We also talked to Tap Room Manager Amber Davis-Sato and Sales Manager Bridgette Geiger.
