2nd year in a row we broadcasted from the Highlands Ranch Beer Festival. This time around we had between 50 and 60 breweries and about 250 more people. This has sold out the last two years as well as the craft beer revolution is strong in the south metro! The Thirsty German, Nicol Winkler was the special co host for this one! We led off with Jamie Noebel who is the Community Relations Manager for the HRCA. We talked about the fest and about the beneficiary of the funds raised which is the Highlands Ranch Community Scholarship Fund. Next up was Peggy Lyle who is the Event and Entertainment Director for the Downtown Fort Collins Business Administration. They put on the Colorado Brewers Festival in downtown Ft. Collins which this year turns 25 years old. A ton of new added features and events to the fest and they are giving away free beer for a year to a lucky person that registers online for some festival bucks. This is a 3 day event that runs June 27th through June 29th. We then chatted with Todd Thibault from Breckenridge Brewery as he was down in Pagosa Springs for the Blues and Bluegrass Fest. They have some cool events coming up including their 24th anniversary Hottenanny on July 12th.
In hour two we led off with Jerod Hutchison and Jason Wiley from the Colorado Keg House which is set to open at the end of the month in Broomfield by the First Bank Center. They will have 75 all Colorado taps and all beers will be just 5 bucks. These guys are going to rock in on the 36 corridor! Next up was Alex Ogrinz who is the event specialist for Upslope Brewing Company. We talked about their new beers, the Get Down and much more. And finally, we nailed down Jodie Whealy form Ska Brewing. This is about as rare as a Yeti sighting. Was an honor to get her on and talk about all things Ska. Their 19th anniversary is coming up in September and should be a blast as always! We closed the show with Brew News You Can Use as there is never a dull moment in the state in great beer! We also spent some time with Erik Peterson from Bull & Bush Brewery! We talked about their brews, their history and the all new packaging they are using for several beers! In hour one, Upslope Brewing’s Alex Violette jumped on to talk about the new collab with Crooked Stave called Ferus Flexus. Next up head brewer at Jagged Mountain Craft Brewery Wayne Burns was in studio to talk about his unbelievable experience in beer and about how BIG they like to go down there at 20th and Lawrence. We also talked to Tebo from Breckenridge Brewery as he was attending Arizona Beer Week. Breck is releasing their Barleywine at their spot on 471 Kalamath in Denver on March 15th.
In Hour two we were joined in studio by Nick Nunns and Zack Coleman from Trve Brewing Company at 227 Broadway. We talked about their souring program, their styles and heavy metal! We also got an update on location and TTB approval for Zack and Chad Christofferson and Chain Reaction Brewing! Look out Missisippi and Lipan!

In Hour 1 we chatted with Cary Floyd about their new Belgian Strong and about the 9 beers they will be submitting for medals at GABF. We also talked to Tebo from Breckenridge Brewery who joined us live from Kyle’s Brew Fest at Boulder Beer.
In hour 2 Dave Butler from Fermentedly Challenged joined us as he brought in some nice brews for us to sample as well including the Crabtree Menage a Trios Braggot. He talked about new breweries coming and in planning for Colorado. Cary Floyd also sat in with Dave and the boys. Also this hour we broke some news about the Fall Beer Classic. This is on Saturday September 29th downtown. Breweries will bring in their fall seasonal, harvest, or fresh hopped brews where a “best” fall beer will be announced and awarded. Live music and a skins game for charity as well. Nicol Winkler and Adam Lenfest who have been the organizers of this event joined us on tha air for details. We also talked to Greg Brill and Keniey Sonley from Parry’s Pizzeria who were holding a Dogfish Head Special Pouring and are planning a benefit for Alex Sullivan’s family on Thursday August 9th. We closed out the show wih Bristol Brewing’s David Boone who had several events and new brews to talk about.

Carol talked about the 6th Edition of the Beer Drinker’s Guide to Colorado with over 250 dollars worth of savings and free beer. Jesse filled us in on the menu (both food and beer) at The West End Tavern. He brought in some ribs and also talked about their IPA tap takeover for JulIPA. All month, nothing but IPA’s on tap at the West End. Bess Dougherty hit on being the first female brewer at The Wynkoop. She has the battle wounds to prove it too! Nicol talked about the ever popular Craft Ladies beer club. Over 400 women strong and still growing. Doug talked about Dry Dock’s new facility plans at Tower and i70. He also talked about their award winning brews.
The Gubna and Turk on the road this week at the Opening Ceremony of Colorado Beer Week at Highland Tap and Burger! What an awesome beer festival this was with 16 different breweries, distilleries, food and great guests! We talked to Katie O’Shea Padro from Highland Tap, Scott Kerkmans form Colorado Beer Week, Dennis O’Harrow from Arvada Beer, Moose from Peach Street Distillers and Todd Thibault from Breckenridge Brewery. Thibault broke down some of the restrictions they faced while trying to get a new brewery built in the Littleton area and what they are pursuing now.
Another road show at Arvada Beer Company! We talked to owner and brewer Cary Floyd about his new beers on tap and about their women’s only homebrew competition. Steve Kurowski from the Colorado Brewer’s Guild also joined in to talk about the new study they did with the University of Colorado on economic impact from the craft brewing industry on our state. This segment added 446 million into the economy in 2011. Pretty amazing numbers. We also talked to Scott Kerkmans who organizes Colorado Beer Week which is coming up starting May 12th. Nicol Winkler and Lindsay McNicholas from the Crafty Ladies also jumped on with us! They discussed the Crafty Ladies, the opening Colorado Beer Week event at Highland Tap and Burger on May 12th and an event they are putting together with Firestone Walker and Left Hand on May 14th.
