Nicol Winkler (AKA The Thirsty German) and Daniel Ekker from Argonaut Wine & Liquor filled in while Turk was pouring beers in Asheville NC. In Hour one they talked to special guests from Joyride Brewing Company: owner Dave Bergen and brewer Nathan Lincoln. They are rocking out amazing beers with a real cool taproom at 25th and Sheridan in Edgewater. Great to finally get these guys in. We also chatted with Todd Tebo from Breckenridge Brewery. In hour two owner David Lin and head brewer Marks Lanham from Comrade Brewing Company joined the fray. They have been turning heads with their Superpower IPA. Marks is former head brewer at Grand Teton, Boneyard and Barley Browns and really knows how to work with hops. David comes from Dry Dock Brewing Company. We also had on the line Terry Martin who is a local homebrewer who is helping a local non-profit organize a home brew tasting event in Denver on April 24. Salus World helps with mental health issues in war torn regions, like Malaysia. She’s looking for local homebrewers to donate 2.5 gallons (or so) of up to 2 styles of their beer. Basically, they’ll be pouring their beer for a good cause, helping to raise awareness of the non-profit. The event is in RiNo, at the Posner Center, on April 24. Contact her at this email: firstname.lastname@example.org. Two winners will be selected, a judges choice and a people’s choice. Winners will have the opportunity to win a gift certificate to a local homebrew shop. We also gave you a healthy dose of Brew News You Can Use.
Sometimes you have to pinch yourself and say your dreaming! Well, this was another one of those times where we found ourselves with our 4th invite to Big Beers in Vail! Yep, Laura Lodge was kind enough to have us back for 3 days of crazy fun. If you’ve never been to Big Beers, Belgians & Barleywines – we suggest you put it on your bucket list. From educational seminars to insanely thought out beer dinners to a grand tasting that is TRULY grand. Big Beers has it all! Throw in the Vail Casade for lodging and the beauty of Vail Valley and you get blown away. Laura and Bill Lodge took great care again and invited us to the Epic/Sam Adams Beer Dinner. We also did Beer Yoga, skied, sat in the bar and met countless beer heroes. It gets better every year! We just wish we were able to take more and better photos.
Thibault and Stacy sat in for the show and we talked to a ton of people. In hour caught up with New Belgium Brewing‘s Brewmaster Peter Bouckaert and Sensory Specialist Lauren Salazar, John Carlson of the Colorado Brewers Guild, Dogfish Head‘s Sam Galagione, and Ska Brewing‘s co-owner and founder Dave Thibodeau.
In hour two we led off with Boston Beer Company Brewmaster Jennifer Glanville. We then caught up with Renegade Brewing‘s Laura Vande Zande, Caution Brewing‘s Danny and Betty Wang and Epic Brewing‘s head brewer Jordan Schupbach.
We were all finally recovered from Big Beers, Belgians and Barleywines from last week and ready to go with a fun show in studio!
In Hour One we had on Steve and Leslie Kaczeus from Niwot’s Bootstrap Brewing Company. They brought in some of their brand new bottled and labeled goodies! Get in and check these guys out on 79th Street in Niwot. We also had a segment of Brew News You Can Use and talked to our man Todd Thibault from Breckenridge Brewery.
In Hour Two we brought in Jim Stinson, Kjell “Jellyman” Wygant and Melissa Gifford from Rockyard American Grill & Brewing Company. They brought in a delicious saison called Spirit of Danny in memory of Danny Williams and their KROC collaboration Wilson Imperial Stout. They had expansion news and a lot of new things to talk about. Get in and check em out by the factory outlets in Castle Rock. We also chatted with Executive Director of the Colorado Brewers Guild John Carlson. Some new bills concerning beer are running through the legislature that concern the suds including another run at full strength beer in c-stores plus a bill that would let 18-20 year old’s have a brew at restaurants, breweries, etc. if the legal guardian is with you.
Next week, make sure to join us live from Arvada Beer Company at 5600 Old Wadsworth from 12-2! Gonna be a great broadcast!
