Colorado Craft Beer Show Brewcast: Great American Beer Festival 10-12-2013

For the third straight year, we had the honor of broadcasting live from inside the halls of the Colorado Convention Center for the Great American Beer Festival. What an amazing production this has become with over 580 breweries and 4,500 plus beers. Stacy Turk was the special co host this week!

In Hour One, we led off with Marty Jones who is now carrying the torch for Mission Brewing, Wasatch and Squatters Beers, Colorado Cider Company and much more. The man is a wealth of beer knowledge! We then talked to founding partner of Squatters Beers Peter Cole and Greg Schirf who founded Wasatch Beers. They have combined ventures and became the Utah Brewers Cooperative. We also caught up with Todd Thibault who has really mad his way around town this week to take it all in!

In Hour Two we led with off Greg Koch of Stone Brewing Company! 17 years of amazing beers and stories from this beer hero! We talked about some new beers they will be putting out, the hotel he is planning on, the Europe brewery, the charities that will benefit when he shaves his beard, and the 6 month sabbatical he will be taking! We also talked to Julia Herz of the Brewer’s Association about the festival and some of the winners that were just announced. Colorado did very well! We closed out the show with the guys from Rockyard American Grill and Brewing Company. They won Bronze for their Redhawk Ale in the Scottish Style Ale category. Jim Stinson, Kjell Wygant and Derek Mitchell jumped on with us and also talked about their whiskey barrel aged stout they packaged to help with flood relief assistance.

We are already counting down for next year’s GABF! Congrats to all the Colorado breweries who took home medals and to the other folks who didn’t medal but should have! We live in THE state of Craft Beer and we are very fortunate!
