We were in studio for the show today for the first time in a long time! In hour one we had the Jellyman Kjell Wygant and The Fez Greg Fetzer from Rockyard American Grill and Brewery. We talked about their new Mix 12 pack which is now out in the market as well as sampled their Dog House Red which is a barrel-aged and bretted Red Ale. Very tasty and get some while you can. We also talked about their upcoming festival on August 23rd Rendezvous at the Rock. Lots of breweries and a traveling trophy will be awarded. We also caught up with Tebo from Breckenridge Brewery who is smack dab in the middle of a Mountain Tour. In hour two Laura and Nate Fleming from High Plains Tap House jumped in with us to talk about what they are doing there on the Northeast corner of Wadsworth and Chatfield in Littleton. You need to get in and visit this beer lovers paradise in the south metro! We also did Mobile canning’s Brew News You Can Use and discussed how to tell a brewer or brewery that their beers actually need work. Is it detrimental to the craft movement if we always say that beer is “good”?

Colorado Craft Beer Show Brewcast: Saturday July 12th 2014 Breckenridge Brewery 24th Anniversary Hootenanny

Nicol Winkler (AKA The Thirsty German and Turk were front and center to celebrate 24 years of Breckenridge Brewery! They closed off Kalamath between 4th and 5th in what will be the last anniversary bash at their current location. This was an amazing event with a pig roast, 6 bands, great people and of course, tasty suds. Every band rocked the stages hard and got us all dancing! It was our first time seeing the Magic Beans who were unbelievable. They did a bluegrass rendition of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Tuesday’s Gone!!! During the show we had many a guests including Todd Thibault, Todd Usry and Matt Eldridge from Breck. They gave us the lowdown on 24 years and the plans moving forward into their new brewery on South Santa Fe. We also talked to Brian Bjork from Odell Brewing and Julia Wellington from Copper Kettle about their fundraising event A Night to Remember. Dan Rabin came on to talk about his new book Colorado Breweries.  We even let Gary V on the show with his partner in crime Katie Nierling who also reps for Fort Collins Brewery. This was such a fun day that will never be repicated. Thanks to the breck crew (especially Sarah, Tebo, Usry and Matt), and all the supporters of this trend setting brewery for making this happen.

Back to our home away from home Arvada Beer Company! Cary and Kelly Floyd hosted with me and they have been busy brewing some summer beers! They had a new Saison, Doppelbock and Kolsh on tap as well as the Pomegranate Wheat. They are also getting ready for first Saturdays in Olde Town Arvada and the summer beer festival season. We talked about ABC, new liquor enforcement division rulings and of course threw out a fat Brew News You Can Use segment. we also were joined by Tommy Bibliowicz from 4 Noses Brewing Company. He gave us their story and we tried some of their beers. They are located just west of Wadsworth and 116th Ave in Broomfield! Breckenridge Brewery‘s Todd Thibault jumped on from Burning Can Fest in Lyons! We also welcomed in a new sponsor for the next few weeks with The Downtown Fort Collins Business Administration who throws the Colorado Brewers Festival which this June 28th and 29th they turn 25 years old!

Colorado Craft Beer Show Brewcast: Mountain Toad Brewing 1 Year Anniversary May 24th 2014

The Mountain Toad Brewing Gang was kind enough to invite Turk and Nicol Winkler out to do the show for their one year anniversary! What a great brewery, with great beers, an awesome beer garden and clientele! We talked to the Mountain Toad crew which included Kaylee and Josh Robbins, Brian Vialpando and Thad Briggs! They were releasing some special beers throughout the day and bringing back some old faves. Other guests included Brett Wagner who has been visiting the Toad since day one, Zack Cristofferson from Chain Reaction Brewing who has an opening date on June 21st, and Todd Thibault from Breck who talked about their annual Hootenanny!

Colorado Craft Beer Show Brewcast: Saturday May 17th 2014 Strange Craft Beer Co’s 4th Anniversary!

Big show from Strange Craft Beer Company for their 4th anniversary and to wrap up American Craft Beer Week. Argonaut Wine & Liquor’s Daniel Ekker co hosted as Tim Myers and Todd Thibault of Breck Brew sat in most of the show. We also chatted with Strange do-it-all superhero Jules Hoekstra. They have 4 amazing collaborations on tap right now as well as 12 others. Get Strange with these folks as soon as you can! Tim and the gang are some of the best folks you will ever meet! We also heard form Tim’s wife Marni who is also very instrumental in the daily going ons at Strange. Danny Wang of CAUTION Brewing Company also jumped on as they were celebrating their 2nd anniversary! There was a big ‘ol Brew News You Can Use segment as well! Big thanks to the Strange crew and to Taste of the Phillipines for the grub!

Back to the studio today for a pretty awesome show! Joining Turk as co host was Elizabeth Kagan from Firestone Walker. We talked about some new Firestone beers and their involvement with Old Chicago where they are doing a mini tap takeover for the next month. Also in studio was Daniel Imdieke who is the Manager of Beer Operations at Old Chicago. We talked about Old C’s commitment to craft beer and some of the programs they run throughout the year. Did you know there is 24 Old Chicago locations in Colorado? We also chatted with Tebo from Breckenridge Brewery about their Comic Con beer and all things Breck.  In hour two Brad Page from Colorado Cider Company jumped on to fill us in on the big AHA rally they are hosting next weekend. That’s the first time a cidery has hosted an AHA rally. We talked about the history of ciders and how it is really taking off again.

Colorado Craft Beer Show Brewcast: Parry’s Another Big Ass Avery Tap Takeover Saturday April 26th 2014

Had the honor to broadcast from Parry’s Pizzeria & Bar in Highlands Ranch for Another Big Ass Tap Takeover where over 26 Avery Brewing Company brews were on tap and some rare bottles were floating around too! Founder David Parry was our special co host! Dave Butler from Fermentedly Challenged sat in most of the show and we were also joined by Brewtally Insane’s Mark Robinson. We also had on Avery’s National Sales Director Dustin LeMoine and Darin McGregor who is their National Marketing Director. Breck Brew’s Todd Thibault also dropped us a line from the western slope! Good times were had by all and can’t wait for next years event!

Colorado Craft Beer Show Brewcast: Denver Home Show Courtesy of Indian Peaks Alers Saturday March 15th 2014

Nicol Winkler (AKA The Thirsty German) and myself were lucky enough to get invited out to the Denver Home Show at the National Western Complex. Our gracious hosts were the Indian Peaks Alers. They are an amazing homebrew club out of Longmont who has really been bringing in some awards especially with the barrel aged program they have! Wayne Starks of the Indian Peaks Alers joined us throughout the show. He also runs an awesome woodwork and fixture company called Stark Fixtures. We also talked to Jeff Jameson who manages The Brew Hut which is a fine sponsor of ours! Wynn Wagner who runs Rocky Mountain Design Collective also jumped on with us. In Hour two Don Blake and Greg Toothacher from the Indian Peaks Alers joined us. We talked a lot about home brewing, brew clubs, what the Indian Peaks Alers do and we threw out Brew News You Can Use.

Colorado Craft Beer Show Brewcast: The Very Nice Brewing Company for Frozen Dead Guy Days Saturday March 8th 2014

Oh man! We got to cross off a destination for a bucket list to do the show! We went live in Nederland for Frozen Dead Guy Days at THE Very Nice Brewing Company! Big thanks to Jeff and Susan Green from VNBC as well as Todd Thibault from Breckenridge Brewery for co hosting! Jeff sat in the entire show telling us about his brewery, Frozen Dead Guys Days and the beautiful town of Nederland. You got to get in and try their 5 mainstays and 4 seasonals they call premier beers! Impressed by all of them! We squeezed in as many guests as possible! Here they are: Zach Nichols from Sanitas Brewing Company, Corey Marshall from Tivoli Brewing Company and Distribution. Nederland Mayor Joe Gierlach, Big Choice Brewing‘s Nathaniel Miller, Very Nice assistant brewer Mike Meduski and the Brewer’s Association‘s Tommy Cunningham.  We had an amazing time, with a feverish crowd on a beautiful day at one of the premier festivals in the nation! It was VERY NICE indeed!

Daniel Ekker from Argonaut Wine & Liquor and Nicol Winkler (AKA The Thirsty German) hosted while Turk was away working his butt off at a three day Bluegrass and Beer Fest in Avon. We know! Poor Turk. Big thanks to Daniel and Nicol for holding the Fort down! Our guests included Leshner Del Rosario from The Orange Crunch Food Truck to talk about the Breweries and Foodies event, Breckenridge Brewery‘s Todd Thibault and Ryan Workman and Moose Koons from Peach Street Distillers. Moose talked about Peach Street and and the big DSTILL event in Denver March 10-16! Tebo and Ryan talked about their new brews and all things Breck!
