Boulder Beer’s Chicken Dan and Turk made beer radio magic from one of the coolest beer fests in the state! The Great Central City Beer Festival. This was year three of the event and it keeps getting bigger and better. Over 25 breweries on hand in historic Central City. There’s a lot more than just beer too. Great food, a cemetary crawl, historic gun battle re enactments, and much more. Want to thank the Central City Business Admin for having us out again! Guests included Joe Behm of the Central City Business Admin, Marty Jones, Arvada Beer Co‘s Cary Floyd, Dillon Dam Brewery head brewer Mike Bennett, Breckenridge Brewery‘s Todd Thibault, Barrels & Bottles Brewery’s Abby George, Dave Thomas from Dostal Alley Brewing and former Central City Mayor Buddy Schmaltz.
8-30-2014 Freshcraft 4th Anniversary
Jason, Aaron and Lucas Forgy kind enough to invite Turk and Nicol Winkler (AKA the Thirsty German) out for Freshcraft‘s 4th Anniversary Party! They were breaking out some crazy rare beers for this all while serving up some BBQ Iowa style. Freshcraft is a place where you can not only find a stellar lineup of brews with rare ones popping their head up all the time but a place that is well known for their amazing cuisine. They do beer dinners quarterly that will drop your jaw. Or try a beer cocktail! Lunch specials and happy hour deals galore. We LOVE Freshcraft. Jamie Gulick joined us for a few segments talking about Freshcraft, their food, women in beer, and the new concept the Forgy’s are working on in the Highlands called Block and Larder. Tebo jumped on talking Breckenridge Brewery and Fall beers and events! Arlo Grammatica from Ska breifly joined us to talk new releases and their 19th anniversary party. Wade Norris jumped on to talk about Green Beer Fest and his run for state office. Nicol, Turk and Adam Lenfest also discussed the use of the word “Denver” in a brewery’s name. Denver Beer Co and Denver Pearl Brewing are having a little battle. Thanks to our host Jamie, the Forgy’s and everyone at Freshcraft for the great time!
9-6-2014 Studio with Renegade’s Laura Vande Zande with guests from Living the Dream and Kokopelli
Renegade Brewing‘s Laura Vande Zande joined Turk to co host the show in studio today. She’s putting on a big show called Offensively Delicious during GABF week that mixes comedy and beer. They will have national and local comedians plus some rookie brewery workers taking their shot at stand up. In hour one we talked with Jason Bell the brewmaster at Living the Dream Brewing which just opened in Highlands Ranch at Santa Fe and Highlands Ranch Parkway. Him and his partners are living the dream while making great beers! We also chatted with Tebo from Breckenridge Brewery. He’s been on a wild Mountain Tour! In Hour two the Kokopelli Beer Company gang jumped in! We had founder and owner Christine Wares and Katie Schroepfer in studio. Also want to thank Danica Smith for bringing Kokopelli Beer all the way down from Westminster! They have a really cool story and make some really great and diverse beers! We also did Mobile Canning’s Brew News You Can Use.

Felt good to be back at our home away form home Arvada Beer Company as Cary and Kelly Floyd sat in the whole show with Turk! In hour one we talked about GABF events and happenings, new beers at Arvada Beer, their 3rd anniversary party coming up October 25th which we will broadcast from and a lot more. Tebo also jumped in and almost seemed to be in a jolly spirit even though GABF is about to fall on top of him! In hour two Marty Jones came on to talk about his new venture the Brew Night Show which should take place once every two months at Lannie’s Clocktower Cabaret. It’s a variety show with music, comedy and beer banter. He will also feature some very cool guests including Charlie Papazian who will be at the premier during GABF on Wednesday. Information is HERE! Chicken Dan Weitz and Turk hosted from Boulder Beer’s 35th Anniversary at the Brewpub in Boulder! Chicken Dan has been doing manning marketing duties for Boulder Beer for over 12 years. What a treat this was as we got the history of the FIRST microbrewery in Colorado. There’s been a ton of change over the years and we got the skinny. Randolph “Stick” Ware also jumped on for the full second hour. You need to listen to his tale of the “Laughing Beer”. He was one of the original founders back in 1979 along with David Hummer. Big thanks to Chicken Dan, Tess McFadden, David Zuckerman, Jeff Brown, Jessica Graefenhain and the crew for haing us out for this amazing party! There were some amazing beers flowing in the beer garden out back.

Colorado Craft Beer Show Brewcast: Boulder Beer Company 34th Anniversary Beer Rave Sat. September 7th 2013
We broadcasted live from Boulder Beer Co’s 34th Anniversary Beer Rave. Chicken Dan and Turk hosting as we walked you up to Colorado’s first microbrewery’s 34th anniversary throwdown. We took you inside the history of Boulder Beer and threw out a ton of brew news you can use including some news on new Breck beers from Tebo! A lot of new CO born and raised brews talked about. We also were joined by Boulder Beer’s Brewmaster David Zuckerman and Lead Brewer Sam Green. Can’t thank Dan Weitz, David Zuckerman, Jeff Brown, Tess McFadden, Jessica Graefenhein and the whole Boulder Beer crew enough for a great time. And to other 34 breweries who sent a wide array of tasty suds and Jimmy John’s for providing grub! Can’t wait til next year!
Big thanks to Mike Burns and Jeremy Hutaff from Beer Craving who put on this fest and were kind enough to have us out.This festival featured over 60 breweries, distilleries, mead makers, gluten free providers, music, food, vendors and a ton of fun. This was a phenomenal event and can’t wait for it again next year!
In Hour One, we led off with this week’s Brew News You Can Use and then jumped on with Xandy Bustamante from Elevation Beer Company. He talked about their new beers, new packaging, their anniversary party on May 18th and much more. We then talked Boulder Beer with Chicken Dan.
In Hour Two we led off with festival details from Marty Noah from Beer Craving and The South Denver Beer Fest. We then jumped on with Todd Thibault and Todd Usry from Breckenridge Brewery. We talked about the new brewery and some new beer Breck has been tinkering with. Next up was Justin Tilotta from Twisted Pine Brewing Company. We sampled their new Cucumber Cream Ale and talked about Twisted Pine. We closed talking a little bit about canned craft beers.

In Hour One we talked to Brian Hutchinson, the head brewer at Cannonball Creek Brewing Company at 393 N. Washington Ave in Golden. They just opened three weeks ago and have had an awesome following and accolades since. We talked to Brian about his and Jason Stengl’s digs, their beers and their future. We also talked to Breckenridge Brewery‘s Todd Thibault about Colorado Craft Beer Week coming up next month.
In Hour Two we had in Brewmaster David Zuckerman and Marketing Director Dan Weitz from Boulder Beer Company. We talked about their history as the first Colorado microbrewery and 43rd US brewing license holder. They talked about their historic big months in beer releases, a collaboration with Knee Deep Brewing and much more. What an awesome hour with these two guys!
