Back to our home-away-from home at Arvada Beer Company to wrap up Colorado Craft Beer Week and to get you ready for the Craft Brewer’s Conference. Kelly and Cary Floyd were on with me the whole show as we threw out a ton of Brew News You Can Use and we had some fascinating guests. Author Joshua Bernstein joined us on the phone from Brooklyn. His latest book is The Complete Beer Course: Boot Camp for Beer Geeks: From Novice to Expert in Twelve Tasting Classes. This has received some amazing reviews and should be part of your beer book library! Another book you need to add is Italy: Beer Country – The Story of Italian Craft Beer.  Authors and beer slingers at Falling Rock Paul Vismara and Brian Jansing joined us to talk about their Italian Craft Beer adventures and about their new book which has launch parties on April 1st and April 8th at Falling Rock and on April 6th at Backcountry Pizza & Taphouse in Boulder. Breckenridge Brewery‘s Todd Thibault also jumped on live from the 10th Anniversary Party at the Ale House in Grand Junction.

Colorado Craft Beer Show Brewcast: Saturday March 15th 2014

Turk was out so Nicol Winkler (The Thirsty German) and Daniel Ekker from Argonaut Wine & Liquor were in! They had a real great show with some very cool guests! Sarah and James Howatt jumped in studio. They recently opened up Former Future Brewing Company and are doing amazing things in the Antique District of South Broadway. Get in and try some of their beers at 1290 S. Broadway. Thibault also jumped on for an update from Breckenridge Brewery. Firestone Walker‘s Rocky Mountain Sales Rep Elizabeth Kagan joined the show for an update on all the rarities that you will see from them over CBC week. Also Chris “Gubna” Katechis was also back on the air here to give an update from Austin and on Oskar Blues. What a stellar lineup! The gang also threw out a ton of Brew News You Can Use and got you set up for Colorado Craft Beer Week and the Craft Brewer’s Conference.

Colorado Craft Beer Show Brewcast: Saturday January 25th 2014 Arvada Beer Company

 

 

We broadcasted once again from our home-away-from-home Arvada Beer Company! You got to get in and try their sessionable IPA. They also have their award winning Barleywine coming out this week! We had several guests on including Mark Slattery who you may know as Denver Beer Guy on Twitter! He covers it all from local to international beer news. Great to meet this guy who has visited so many breweries and tasted so many beers! We then chatted with Lars Ericsson and Marcus Warme from Sweden’s Nynasamns Angbryggeri. They were in town collaborating on a brew with Ska Brewing called Whipa Snapa! Can’t wait to get my tastebuds on some of this at the Collaboration Beer Fest during Colorado Beer Week.  The Ska boys went to Sweden and did one there with these guys last year! Steve Kurowski also joined us as he is the man with The Colorado Brewer’s Guild and has been showing them around the state! We then talked with Todd Thibault who was actually at home compiling some recipes for pairing Breck Beers with!  Next up was William Carlson II who is the creative director and founder behind Beerporium and the blog Brew-Trek. He has put together some really awesome Brewery Passport & Journals! Lastly we were joined by Adam Draeger from Yak & Yeti Restaurant & Brewpub as well as Colorado Plus Brewpub. He has some really interesting beers on tap at both spots he brews at! W eof course got all the info you need to know from Arvada Beer as well as Colorado Brew News You Can Use.

Colorado Craft Beer Show Brewcast: Kickoff of Denver Beer Fest Week at Strange Brewing Company 10-5-2013

 

We  broadcasted at Strange Brewing Company at 13th and Zuni as we kicked off Denver Beer fest Week. Strange owner and head brewer Tim Myers as well as Todd Thibault from Breckenridge Brewery sat in as co hosts. We talked about a week full beery events as GABF is upon us next weekend. Special guests included Paul Webster fro the Brew on Broadway and  Devany McNeil who is involved in several cool beer dinners and the Denver Beerathon.

Colorado Craft Beer Show Brewcast: 2nd Annual Great Central City Beer Festival 8-24-2013

 

We broadcasted live from the 2nd Annual Great Central City Beer Festival right in front of Dostal Alley Brewpub & Casino! Big shouts out to Dave Thomas, Joe Behm and Buddy Schmalz for having us out! Daniel Ekker from Argonaut Wine & Liquor was our special guest host!

We talked to several folks including Joe Behm and Dave Thomas about the festival. Colorado Craft Beer Show Brewcast 3-23-2013

In Hour One we opened up with Mobile Canning’s Brew News You Can Use and then were joined by Sarah and James Howat form Former Future Brewing Company! They are planning on opening shop soon in the Baker neighborhood. They make futuristic interpretations of historical style brews and are doing a great job! Keep an eye on these guys in the near future! They will be at some beer festivals this spring and summer for you to check out! We also chatted with Breckenridge Brewery‘s Todd Thibault about Colorado Craft Beer Week, a collaboration they did, the new brewery digs getting Littleton City approval and much more!

In Hour Two we chatted with Chef Ian Clark from BRU Handbuilt Ales. He will soon be opening BRU Handbuilt Ales and Eats at 53rd and Arapahoe in Boulder. He is still brewing and bottling out of his garage. He makes some fascinating brews. We also rapped with The Gubna who was in Tuscaloosa Alabama for the Suds of the South Beer Festival.

Colorado Craft Beer Show Brewcast 3-9-13

In Hour One: We opened with Mobile Canning‘s Brew News You Can Use and then talked to Brandon Proff, Bryan Leavelle and Andrew Strasberg from Our Mutual Friend Malt & Brew at 2810 Larimer St. in Denver. These guys are making some amazing brews in the RiNo neighborhood. We sampled a couple of their beers, talked about their story, hit on Colorado Craft Beer Week events and much more. We also rapped with Todd Thibault from Breckenridge Brewery about the Stranahan Barrel Aged Pandora’s Bock and Colorado Craft Beer Week events they are involved in, which is many! In Hour Two: The Gubna jumped on from Detroit as Oskar Blues is launching Michigan this week. Also joining us was Ricardo Cabrera from World of Beer Cherry Creek. They have a soft opening this Wednesday March 13th! They are located at 660 S. Colorado Blvd and will have 50 taps and 543 other beers in bottles and cans! Launched 6 years ago, World of Beer already has 38 locations in 13 states. Ricardo gave us their concept, talked about weekly events they hold and much more. Get onto FB and like their page and join us Wednesday for their soft opening! We closed out the show talking to Warren Monteiro who was named Wynkoop Brewing’s Beer Drinker of the Year just a couple weeks ago. We talked about his resume, the judging and about his fables career in beer.

Colorado Craft Beer Show Brewcast Avery Strong Ale Festival 3-2-13

The Gubna and Turk were live form the Avery Brewing Company Tap Room for the 11th Annual Strong Ale Festival. This festival benefits Blue Sky Bridge Child & Family Advocacy Center. They facilitate a collaborative approach to child abuse investigations while providing child victims and their families with support in a safe and child-focused environment. They strive to make the community safer for all children and families through intervention, education and advocacy.

Very honored to broadcast from this awesome fest where every beer is over 8% ABV. Some very great beers and movers and shakers in the craft beer were present! Big thanks to Joe Osborne, Adam Avery and the whole crew in Boulder for having us out!

In Hour One: We threw out Brew News You Can Use, told you what is going on with all of our awesome sponsors and had a ton of guests! We led off with Joe Osborne who is Avery’s Marketing Director. We talked about the Strong Ale Festival, the new brewery, session brews and much more. We then caught up with Tebo from Breckenridge Brewery. Breck just brewed a new beer this week with the folks from Comic Con and will be releases when the show is in Denver in May. Tebo also gave us the awesome list of events they will be involved in during Colorado Craft Beer Week which runs March 18th through the 24th. We closed out hour one talking with JD Merryweather from Oklahoma City’s COOP Ale Works. He and his crew had some fine beers on tap and we talked about the beer scene in OK and about his brewery.

In Hour Two: We continued talking with OKC’s JD Merryweather about COOP Ale Works. We also brought in Director of Operations at Dry Dock Brewing Company Doug Hyndman. He was former head brewer and just received the promotion to Director of Ops! We talked about the new production facility south of I70 on Tower Road, the beers they are canning and much more. We then doubled up with Tim Myers from Strange Brewing Company and Jason Wiedmaier from Lone Tree Brewing Company! We talked about the brotherhood of brewing in Colorado, Colorado Craft Beer Week, new beers at their respective digs and more. We closed out the show with a brief conversation with Ed Sealover of the Denver Business Journal and author f Mountain Brew. He and Charles Nuckolls have launched a beer show on TV called Colorado Brews which will have a pilot episode airing on Saturday April 6th at 9:30 PM on Rocky Mountain PBS. Colorado Craft Beer Show Brewcast Arvada Beer Company 1 Year Anniversary Party

We broadcasted live from Arvada Beer Company for the culmination of their 1 year anniversary week party! Cary and Kelly Floyd sat in for the Gubna who was launching Oskar Blues in Ohio!

In Hour One we led off talking about all the amazing beers they released this week to celebrate one year in business. The Gub also called in as he was traveling between Columbus and Cleveland to launch Oskar Blues. We also talked to Breckenridge Brewery‘s Todd Thibault live from the Gorilla Run. Breck is launching their Christmas Ale in mini kegs and have a couple upcoming events you should check out. Also a ton of brew news this hour!

In Hour Two we led off talking to David Parry from Parry’s Pizzeria & Bar in Parker, Highlands Ranch and Castle Rock. Parry’s has 90 taps now and will be adding 50 more in Greenwood Village soon. They had a fundraiser going on to help family friend Zoe beat Cancer. They also have a ton of events coming up we filled you in on! We then talked to Joe Kempsel who was Arvada Beer’s 100,000th customer and in doing so gets a growler of every different beer they make this year and gets to brew with them. Joe wants to do a sour with Kelly and will be working on that soon. We then talked with Michael Long who is the Host Chef of the upcoming Chef N Brew Festival on November 15th at the Oriental Theater. He had a pair of tickets to give away and will do again next week. This is a really sweet beer and food pairing festival that will pit 13 of Denver’s best chefs against eachother trying to make the perfect pairing with one of the beers provided from the 13 different breweries. We then closed out the show with Kelly Floyd and head brewer Dennis O’Harrow. They talked about their upcoming Beer Dinner in Golden at the Bridgewater Grill on Wednesday November 7th. We also talked about their brew classes and two different Christmas Ales they will be releasing. Also a ton of events and brew news passed along this hour. Colorado Craft Beer Show Brewcast 31st Annual Great American Beer Festival 10-13-2012

We were very honored to be the only broadcast crew inside the halls of Great American Beer Festival! As the medal ceremony was wrapping up we had several guests on!

In Hour One we led off with a little scene set from the 31st annual GABF! We were then joined by General Manager at the Publican in Chicago Katie Syracopoulos. We also talked with Adam Trattler from Backcountry Brewery in Frisco. We then were joined by a very overworked Todd Thibault from Breckenridge Brewery. He gave us the lowdown on what it’s like to be involved in dozens of events and having to get beer practically everywhere during GABF week. We closed out the hour with John Winter from Lone Tree Brewing Company!

In Hour Two folks started pouring out of the awards ceremony. We announced some of those winners and Andrew Emerton from New Belgium Brewing jumped on. They won two medals! Brewers Association Craft Beer Program Director Julia Herz also joined us to talk about some of the medal winners and about 31 years of GABF! Strange Brewing Company co owner Tim Myers also joined us right after learning they had won a Bronze for their Dr. Strangelove Barleywine! Next up was Andy Brown and Marty Jones from the Wynkoop to talk about their Rocky Mountain Oyster Stout. Our next guests were Brad Lincoln and Gordon Schuck from Funkwerks who grabbed gold medals with their Belgian Style Strong and their Saison. But that was just the beginning, as they also received the Small Brewery of the Year Award! Upslope also won a silver medal in the American Style Brown category and head brewer Alex Violette joined us. We closed out the show with Ska President Dave Thibodeau who was a skunked as far as medals and was a little sour! We love him dearly though!
