Saturday November 15th 2014 High Plains Tap House 1 Year Anniversary
We have a great new sponsor in High Plains Tap House and we were super stoked when they asked us to come out and hang for their 1 year anniversary party. The kindest receptions we’ve ever had as you will see below! Stacy Turk sat in today and co hosted. Guests included Nate and Laura Fleming who own and operate High Plains, Joel Scally from Odyssey Beerwerks , Mike Cugini and Ben Christianson from Rockyard American Grill and Brewery and Zack Christofferson and Brian Blainey from Chain Reaction Brewing. We HIGHLY suggest you come out and see these folks when you get a chance in Littleton at Wadsworth and Chatfield. A nice wide variety of craft beers from around the world, a delightful food menu, an 80 inch TV and some of the nicest folks you will meet! Get down and say hello!
Saturday November 22nd 2014 with the Blue Spruce Brewing and Brewery Rickoli Gangs
Turk hosted alone in studio today as he has been quite forgetful lately and went to work without securing a co host. But no worries as we had some great guests come in to hang out. In Hour One we had in Rick and Tim Kane from Blue Spruce Brewing Company in Centennial at Colorado Blvd and County Line Rd. Rick and Tim are a father son team who along with mom Theresa run a very cool brewery and Mazatlan Style kitchen to boot. We talked about a collaboration beer they did with seven other C-470 area breweries that will be tapped at all the locations on December 5th. It’s called Bock C-470. We also sampled some fine fall brews they are rocking right now. In Hour Two we sat down with Rick and Jaqua Abitbol as well as Todd Williamson from Brewery Rickoli in Wheatridge at 43rd and Wadsworth. We talked about his hook up with Sam Adam’s Brewing the American Dream program, making gluten-free beers and about his beers which have some pretty darn cool names. Had a really great time in studio with these guys and gal so very thankful they came in. Support your local Centennial and Wheatridge brewery folks!
Saturday November 29th 2014 Chain Reaction Brewing for the Despondents vs Stacy Turk Beer
Yep, it finally came down to this one! Stacy and John Turk have been homebrewing for a handful of years so when Zack Christofferson from Chain Reaction Brewing approached them both to do separate beers professionally at Chain Reaction, we had to make a big deal out of it. So we though it might be cool to have Stacy take on the Beer Despondents Todd Thibault, Mike Nelson and Turk. Stacy and the Chain Reax crew made a Caramel Apple Brown while the Despondents went with a Chocolate Cream Porter. We had a contest to see what beer was better as we tapped it today. The winner was decided by a judging panel made up of Brewtally Insane‘s Mark Robinson, The Thirsty German Nicol Winkler, author and beer journalist Emily Hutto and Nate Fleming from High Plains Tap House. One dollar for each sale went to their respective charities. Stacy went with The Gathering Place and the Despondents went with Life Is Better Rescue. The losing beer makers have to match the totals for sale of that beer. So it came down to it with Nate and Nicol voting for the Stacy and Mark and Emily voting for the Despondents. The folks on hand had to split the votes and did so favoring Stacy’s Caramel Apple Brown. During the show we had on Tim Myers from Strange Craft Beer Company, Thibault, Nelson, Stacy, Zack and Chad Christofferson, Klaus Schiefelbbin and the entire judging panel. What a very fun event and we WILL do this again. BIG up thanks to the Christofferson family and the Chain Reax crew for hosting us. This was a very good time.
The Mountain Toad Brewing Gang was kind enough to invite Turk and Nicol Winkler out to do the show for their one year anniversary! What a great brewery, with great beers, an awesome beer garden and clientele! We talked to the Mountain Toad crew which included Kaylee and Josh Robbins, Brian Vialpando and Thad Briggs! They were releasing some special beers throughout the day and bringing back some old faves. Other guests included Brett Wagner who has been visiting the Toad since day one, Zack Cristofferson from Chain Reaction Brewing who has an opening date on June 21st, and Todd Thibault from Breck who talked about their annual Hootenanny!
The Thirsty German Nicol Winkler was our special guest co host. Follow this LINK to get to her FB and Twitter Page or get involved with the Crafty Ladies. We had a packed show and it was a good one we think! First off, big thanks for the food to Casey LeFever from Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar who just opened at 240 Milwaukee St. in North Cherry Creek. They have 18 taps and some amazing food! Get in this week and mention you heard about this deal on the show to get a free appetizer with any beer purchase. Only good Feb 15-Feb 22 2014.
In hour one, Upslope Brewing’s Alex Violette jumped on to talk about the new collab with Crooked Stave called Ferus Flexus. Next up head brewer at Jagged Mountain Craft Brewery Wayne Burns was in studio to talk about his unbelievable experience in beer and about how BIG they like to go down there at 20th and Lawrence. We also talked to Tebo from Breckenridge Brewery as he was attending Arizona Beer Week. Breck is releasing their Barleywine at their spot on 471 Kalamath in Denver on March 15th.
In Hour two we were joined in studio by Nick Nunns and Zack Coleman from Trve Brewing Company at 227 Broadway. We talked about their souring program, their styles and heavy metal! We also got an update on location and TTB approval for Zack and Chad Christofferson and Chain Reaction Brewing! Look out Missisippi and Lipan!
We broadcasted live from Arvada Beer Company’s 2nd Anniversary Bash. All week they have been releasing a new beer each day and we got to sample some amazing barrel aged sours Arvada had whooped up! One was on nitro! Cheers to our very good friends at Arvada Beer Company for two amazing years! We can’t thank you enough for your friendship and support of the show.
We talked about their two years of beers in Olde Town Arvada as well as talked to Tebo from Breckenridge Brewery, Bernadette Ortiz form Columbine Label Company, and Zack Christofferson from Chain Reaction Brewing. Bernadette threw out a nice deal for our listeners whether you are a small or large business or a home brewer looking to make some labels for your brews. Zack and his cousin Chad are set to open in Denver soon and broke some location news. We also talked with Arvada Beer regular Severyn Pederson.
Pat Hartman from Mobile Canning our special guest host this week! Our guests were Tom Horst from Crystal Springs Brewing Company and Zack Christofferson from Chain Reaction Brewing Company. Tom has been brewing since 1988 in Boulder and opened up Crystal Springs 3 years ago and is celebrating his anniversary this week. He announced a new facility and some new label approvals during the show while we sampled some of his fine brews. Mobile Canning is also packaging their Amber and Kolsh. Zack and his cousin Chad are in the process of opening their brewery in the Littleton area. He also covers beer for the Examiner. Zack and Chad are perfecting their brews and we got a taste of his Smoked Porter, English Mild, Belma Pale Ale and Pink Peppercorn Saison. You need to hear why these guys chose the name Chain Reaction! Good stuff! We also threw out American Craft Beer Week events for our sponsors and did Brew News You Can Use. Tebo also jumped in to talk about Breckenridge Brewery’s ACBW events.
