It had to eventually happen… The man, the myth, the legend Mike Nelson (Beer Despondent Number 2) co hosted with Turk today in studio. And he did a stellar job too. We led off the show with Will Carlson from Beerporium who has some unfortunate news as he has been diagnosed with an incurable blood cancer called Multiple Myeloma. Some breweries and the Knights of Columbus have teamed together for a fundraiser being called Tasters for Life which will take place on Saturday May 16th from 1-7 pm at the Knights of Columbus at 1555 Grant St. Please take some time to stop by on this date and support a guy who has done a ton for the Colorado Craft Beer Community. We then got our weekly update from Todd Thibault from Breckenridge Brewery. In hour two we had in Goldspot Brewing Company‘s Matt Hughes (head brewer) and Ryan Abernathy (Tap Room Manager) and Jesse Brookstein from Call to Arms Brewing Company. Had fun sampling Goldspot’s stuff and talking about their brewery at 4970 Lowell Blvd near Regis University. Jesse and Call to Arms plan to open later this summer at 46th and Tennyson in the Sunnyside neighborhood. Jesse comes from Avery Brewing and their is a lot of anticipation for these guys to open. Guests in hour one were Taylor Rees, Austin Wiley and Darren Boyd who just opened up Spangalang Brewery at 27th and Welton in an old DMV building. These guys all came from Great Divide so you know they will come out with great beers right out of the gate! In Hour two Ron Vaughn from Argonaut Wine & Liquor jumped in to talk about the ever-important Keep Colorado Local Campaign which is fighting the full strength beer in grocery stores initiative. This is a very important issue for your local breweries so please take a look at what they are saying. Wayne Anderson from Spirit Hound Distillers in Longmont also jumped in to talk about his spirits and their stance on the Keep Colorado Local Campaign. Of course we talked to Tebo from Breckenridge Brewery and did Brew News You Can Use as well.
