3rd Anniversary Brew Label Contest Courtesy of Columbine Label Company, Strange Brewing Company, Lone Tree Brewing Company and The Colorado Craft Beer Show

Local Businesses teaming up to celebrate the 3rd Anniversary of AM 760′s Colorado Craft Beer Show with a limited edition beer “label” contest!

The Colorado Craft Beer Show hosted by John Turk on AM 760 is teaming up with a few proud sponsors, Strange Brewing Company, Lone Tree Brewing Company and Columbine Label Company to create a limited edition Single Hop Amarillo India Pale Ale called “99 Bottles” in celebration of the show’s 3 year anniversary. The limited edition beer will be brewed and bottled into bombers with the expertise and equipment of Strange Brewing Company on Wednesday February 12th. The custom labels will be printed by Columbine Label Company and the celebration will take place at the Lone Tree Brewing Company tasting room on April 19th.

“Anybody can submit artwork for the beer label contest” said John Turk, host of the Colorado Craft Beer Show. Artwork should be submitted to turk@coloradocraftbeershow.com. The winner will have their design printed on the limited edition beer labels and will receive a $500.00 credit toward printing their own labels or stickers from the Columbine Label Company in Centennial, CO. Contest ends on March 31st.

Back to our home-away-from home at Arvada Beer Company to wrap up Colorado Craft Beer Week and to get you ready for the Craft Brewer’s Conference. Kelly and Cary Floyd were on with me the whole show as we threw out a ton of Brew News You Can Use and we had some fascinating guests. Author Joshua Bernstein joined us on the phone from Brooklyn. His latest book is The Complete Beer Course: Boot Camp for Beer Geeks: From Novice to Expert in Twelve Tasting Classes. This has received some amazing reviews and should be part of your beer book library! Another book you need to add is Italy: Beer Country – The Story of Italian Craft Beer.  Authors and beer slingers at Falling Rock Paul Vismara and Brian Jansing joined us to talk about their Italian Craft Beer adventures and about their new book which has launch parties on April 1st and April 8th at Falling Rock and on April 6th at Backcountry Pizza & Taphouse in Boulder. Breckenridge Brewery‘s Todd Thibault also jumped on live from the 10th Anniversary Party at the Ale House in Grand Junction.

Turk was out so Nicol Winkler (The Thirsty German) and Daniel Ekker from Argonaut Wine & Liquor were in! They had a real great show with some very cool guests! Sarah and James Howatt jumped in studio. They recently opened up Former Future Brewing Company and are doing amazing things in the Antique District of South Broadway. Get in and try some of their beers at 1290 S. Broadway. Thibault also jumped on for an update from Breckenridge Brewery. Firestone Walker‘s Rocky Mountain Sales Rep Elizabeth Kagan joined the show for an update on all the rarities that you will see from them over CBC week. Also Chris “Gubna” Katechis was also back on the air here to give an update from Austin and on Oskar Blues. What a stellar lineup! The gang also threw out a ton of Brew News You Can Use and got you set up for Colorado Craft Beer Week and the Craft Brewer’s Conference.

Nicol Winkler (AKA The Thirsty German) and myself were lucky enough to get invited out to the Denver Home Show at the National Western Complex. Our gracious hosts were the Indian Peaks Alers. They are an amazing homebrew club out of Longmont who has really been bringing in some awards especially with the barrel aged program they have! Wayne Starks of the Indian Peaks Alers joined us throughout the show. He also runs an awesome woodwork and fixture company called Stark Fixtures. We also talked to Jeff Jameson who manages The Brew Hut which is a fine sponsor of ours! Wynn Wagner who runs Rocky Mountain Design Collective also jumped on with us. In Hour two Don Blake and Greg Toothacher from the Indian Peaks Alers joined us. We talked a lot about home brewing, brew clubs, what the Indian Peaks Alers do and we threw out Brew News You Can Use.

Colorado Craft Beer Show Brewcast: The Very Nice Brewing Company for Frozen Dead Guy Days Saturday March 8th 2014

Oh man! We got to cross off a destination for a bucket list to do the show! We went live in Nederland for Frozen Dead Guy Days at THE Very Nice Brewing Company! Big thanks to Jeff and Susan Green from VNBC as well as Todd Thibault from Breckenridge Brewery for co hosting! Jeff sat in the entire show telling us about his brewery, Frozen Dead Guys Days and the beautiful town of Nederland. You got to get in and try their 5 mainstays and 4 seasonals they call premier beers! Impressed by all of them! We squeezed in as many guests as possible! Here they are: Zach Nichols from Sanitas Brewing Company, Corey Marshall from Tivoli Brewing Company and Distribution. Nederland Mayor Joe Gierlach, Big Choice Brewing‘s Nathaniel Miller, Very Nice assistant brewer Mike Meduski and the Brewer’s Association‘s Tommy Cunningham.  We had an amazing time, with a feverish crowd on a beautiful day at one of the premier festivals in the nation! It was VERY NICE indeed!

Next up head brewer at Jagged Mountain Craft Brewery Wayne Burns was in studio to talk about his unbelievable experience in beer and about how BIG they like to go down there at 20th and Lawrence.  We also talked to Tebo from Breckenridge Brewery as he was attending Arizona Beer Week. Breck is releasing their Barleywine at their spot on 471 Kalamath in Denver on March 15th.

Colorado Craft Beer Show Brewcast: Saturday January 25th 2014 Arvada Beer Company

 

 

We broadcasted once again from our home-away-from-home Arvada Beer Company! You got to get in and try their sessionable IPA. They also have their award winning Barleywine coming out this week! We had several guests on including Mark Slattery who you may know as Denver Beer Guy on Twitter! He covers it all from local to international beer news. Great to meet this guy who has visited so many breweries and tasted so many beers! We then chatted with Lars Ericsson and Marcus Warme from Sweden’s Nynasamns Angbryggeri. They were in town collaborating on a brew with Ska Brewing called Whipa Snapa! Can’t wait to get my tastebuds on some of this at the Collaboration Beer Fest during Colorado Beer Week.  The Ska boys went to Sweden and did one there with these guys last year! Steve Kurowski also joined us as he is the man with The Colorado Brewer’s Guild and has been showing them around the state! We then talked with Todd Thibault who was actually at home compiling some recipes for pairing Breck Beers with!  Next up was William Carlson II who is the creative director and founder behind Beerporium and the blog Brew-Trek. He has put together some really awesome Brewery Passport & Journals! Lastly we were joined by Adam Draeger from Yak & Yeti Restaurant & Brewpub as well as Colorado Plus Brewpub. Colorado Craft Beer Show Brewcast: Caution Brewing Company West Grand Opening Saturday January 18, 2014

We had the super huge privilege to broadcast from Caution Brewing Company West at 1057 South Wadsworth in Lakewood! It was their huge grand Opening event with day long festivities and we were honored that Danny and Betty Wang had us out! Todd Thibault from Breckenridge Brewery co hosted!  They had 8 amazing beers on tap today and will eventually get to 16. They also have a facility in East Denver on 39th that you need to check out too! This is the first Denver brewery to open a second location in state!

We had several guests on the show including Danny and Betty Wang, Congressman Ed Perlmutter, Jason Wiedemaier from Lone Tree Brewing, and Brian Bjork from Odell Brewing. We also talked to Chandra Ruiz from Funk’N Wild and Sarah Del Rosario from the Orange Crunch Food Truck to talk about the Breweries and Foodies Festival to take place on Friday January 31st from 6 to 11 pm at the Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum. This is a Colorado Benefit for Typhoon Relief in the Philippines. 45 bucks, over 25 breweries and 7 food trucks! The grub is included in ticket price! You can get your tickets HERE.
